As I begin year 2 in Japan, I am determined to set new goals .. in every aspect of my life. Year one was an adventure from my everyday reality. Everything was new and exciting. Honestly, It still is .. but as I wake up in the morning, I no longer wake up in a foreign land but rather in what I have grown to call home. The sumimasens and onegai shimasus have become part of my everyday vocabulary and routine. That being said, it is essential to keep the energy moving forward in order to take advantage of all that this life has to offer. New goals, new strides and new beginnings .. whether it be career, personal or other.

Heading West—Looking Back
No Comments, Japan, Photo of the Day, Sights and Sounds, by Duper.
We are preparing for the first visit to the States since arriving in Japan last year. Its hard to believe that 1 year has come and gone .. the experiences have been full .. mostly amazing, some unexpected .. with life being as random as it is, I think we faired pretty well. The sights, the sounds, the culture and the opportunity to share it with the one person I treasure most .. stepping away from the moment always allows you to appreciate the past .. and be excited about the future.
一年で日本にきました。私の日本語はまだ旨くないです、ですかどう少しですね。今から日本をもっと見たい。私のジャーニーははじまたばかりです!

There is nothing quite like a solid karaoke experience. In the US, trying to get friends together for a sing-a-long is like serving a Sirlion to a vegan. Here in Nihon, its a whole other world to explore. Ironically, our 2 favorite nyc ladies busted out the moves and the tunes over in the classy Harajuku Big-Echo karaoke bar. Check out the photos and footage from the event …

No excuses. July posts postponed no more.
No Comments, Japan, Word of the Day, by Duper. Its embarrassing. July 2006 has come and gone and there has yet to be a single post the entire month. With 55 minutes left in the Tokyo calendar … I am writing a post .. so that this blog does not go an entire month without at least 1 single entry. It’s a shame too because there have been so many exciting experiences .. from Okinomiyaki in Osaka to Tanoshikatsuta at Tokyo Disney Sea. The adventures keep on rolling .. hopefully they will be shared a little more frequently.

There is a time and a place to be timid .. light-footed so to speak. This is not one of those times. The official Dance-Off Tokyo kicked off upon arrival of two our good friends and even better dance fiends.
That’s right .. Recently, the Land of Hospitality got served big time by 2 of our favorite nyc ladies on their recent visit to Japan. From shakin up Mt. Fuji to breakin down Roppongi, this country will never be the same. Here is an overview of the stories from their trip that are coming your way on Hanalog. (click on the photo above to view the script for South Park’s You Got Served episode).

Some things stick out more than others.
No Comments, Eating in Japan, Japan, Photo of the Day, おもしろい, なんですか?, by Duper. Before I begin, for those who are more modest or who get offended by the less discreet, I would encourage you to skip this post. To my immature mind, I find the nature and circumstance of this bizarriety to be both shocking and absolutely hilarious. (Please also keep in mind that this was found in a popular and very stylish restaurant .. a respectable restuarant).
It has been a busy month of April and beginning of May. The Hanalog has been quiet but Japan and Tokyo has been anything but! With good friends visiting from LA and NYC there is a plether of activity to share … and be prepared, because we will. Fasten your seat belts and suspenders … the Hanalog is back and is guarenteed to be more exciting than ever.
